KGMS members in good standing (dues must be paid) can participate in collecting field trips.
- Standard safety equipment required (hardhats, steel toe boots, safety vests, safety glasses)
- Be on time for escorted field trips. If you are late, you will not be allowed on the trip
- Some field trips may have additional rules (e.g. mines)

Agate Symposium in Cedarburg, WI
This is not a field trip but several members will be attending the quadrennial Agate Symposium and/or Show.

Our Annual Trip To Alpena, MI
Please note that this year in addition to our usual field trip to the Lafarge Quarry on Saturday we are also hosting an educational (i.e. non-collecting) tour of Michigan karst geology on Friday. Please feel free to attend one or both of the events.

IMPORTANT: Be on time. This is an escorted field trip and everyone MUST enter the quarry as a group and remain with the group.
October (not yet scheduled) – Byholt Quarry, Schoolcraft, MI

The pit may be operational that day so please arrive no more that 15 minutes early – if possible.
Please park on the side of the road at the gate and wait for directions. The fee per person is $5 or $7 per family. I hope that this is an easy way we can show appreciation for the opportunity.
Please use common sense for the proper attire for the conditions and a hard hat,boots and bright safety vest are required. We can collect as much as we can carry out or as large as we can fit in a truck.
