The Friday of the Annual KGMS Show is “Kid’s Day” where all 3rd, 4th, 5th grade student from area counties, are invited to attend. Teachers also leverage the field trip by incorporating quizzes and learning activities around what is presented including a club sponsored program.
KGMS allots $150 fuel subsidies for busing of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade school students to the show on Friday’s “Kids Day”. The teachers are provided curriculum guides and activity sheets in advance, to assist with integrating the visit into class activities.
The Annual KGMS Show is designed to cater to kids. There are educational displays, mineral starter kits and a rock specimen table that permits hands-on learning. Also, many people donate their time to demonstrate and teach the hobby such as wire wrapping, gem faceting, slate carving, sliver smithing, and beading.
